It appears as though the Telstra big swamp has spat the dummy again.
I am reliably informed by someone in the know that this is because they run
their mail servers at 90% capacity and, when they get any sudden influx of
additional mail, such as in self-perpetuating Spam or viruses that grab
address books, the whole lot falls in a screaming heap. Which is pretty
much what happened last week when they encountered a 20% increase in mail
and is why they try and limit file attachments to one megabyte.
That's what you get when you get an Internet "service" restricted in scope
by the bean counters.
