atw: IR contracts

My current contract has a (supposed) 4 weeks notice clause, but another
sneaky clause would seem to vitiate that entirely.

"The agrement may be terminated...
(e) on either the company {agency} or the client terminating the agreement
between themselves"

Far as I can see, this gives me exactly zero notice. I don't worry too
much about contract terms myself, and simply assume that the worst can
happen at any time. As long as I'm paid what they said they'd pay me I'm
fine. Anyone expecting public service conditions shouldn't be contracting.

On Brian's experience with the NSW police: I once applied for a contract
there. I was given the most stupid interview. The interviewers conducted
the procedure exactly like a high-school test (Not even a hello! "Your
time starts now"), asking a series of questions: such as, What is a byte?
How do you compress a file? I as so taken aback I started looking for the
hidden depths behind their interrogation, so I started talking about
getting rid of Word bloat instead of just answering "zip it". End of
questions, end of interview. Didn't want to see my work, didn't review my
CV, didn't even want to talk to me. Daftest interview I've ever had.

I try to avoid govt contracts when I possibly can: apart from the
less-than-stellar rates, the places are usually full of the living dead.
