First off: Thanks to everyone supplying advice on tracking changes and the
release notes. All of the suggestions have helped immensely! I haven't used
Word as in depth as I have lately for a couple of years and it is nice to
know there is still some excellent advisors around out there.
Ctrl, Shift + C: I may be preaching to those already there, but this useful
shortcut to get to the style list in the whatever it is toolbar in Word. I
remember someone complaining about the need to scroll down and a shortcut
way of creating styles.
In Word 2000, the style selection was wonderfully easy using ALT > O > S and
utilising keyboard letters and arrow keys to guide you to your style. Word
2002/2003 never really discussed this but you can get back there using the
Styles and Formatting window, mit better optionzz:
1. Open Styles and Formatting.
2. At the bottom of the window, in the 'Show:' list: click Custom.
The Format Settings dialog opens (well, it should have!).
3. In the 'Styles to be visible:' list, select the styles you want to see in
the Ctrl, Shift + C style list in the Word toolbar.
4. Select any other options you may want elswhere in this dialog box, some
are useful.
5. Click OK.
What that appears to do is limit some of the styles visible to the user. Now
follow closely people for I shall say this only once: The next step is
crucial.
In the Styles and Formatting Window:
At the bottom, in the 'Show:' list: select Available styles. now have a look
in the Ctrl, Shift +C list!
Play with this setting to see how it works. I like it anyway.
The functionality is similar to my beloved Word 2000. Ahh memories.
Wassa. Dreaming of mountains and powder snow.
