I'm trying to fill two positions for a client in North Sydney. The first is a
contract role, for approximately three months. (Yes, I know that a contract
position finishing up close to Christmas is not ideal.) The other is a
permanent position. I can imagine that, if the permanent role isn't filled by
late November, the contractor could be a prime candidate for conversion. I can
also imagine that the contract might be extended (it's been known to happen),
but of course there's no guarantee.
Key details:
It's a FrameMaker / Acrobat shop, developing software with major web-based
components -- at both client and server level. The global customer base
includes major corporations in finance-related industries, government
agencies, and other large organisations. The product mix is quite dynamic,
with well-established products being continually upgraded -- sometimes for
fine tuning and sometimes for major functional enhancement.
Successful candidates will be working very closely with developers, often
using developer-written material as primary sources for updates to current
documents or for input to new documents. Target audiences include internal
development and sales staff, customer technical staff, and end users. The
organisational culture is very strongly oriented towards providing strong
support and motivation to the right people. You'll need a well-developed work
ethic (for those times when the pressure is on, like just before release
dates), good FM skills, and a good understanding of web client and server
technologies. The ability to read code, mostly in Java (J2EE environment),
would be very useful.
I culled my collection of resumes (imagine that each "e" has an acute accent)
a few months ago, to eliminate those that were horribly out of date. So if you
are on my books and qualified for either of these roles but haven't heard from
me about them, please get in touch with an update. (Of course, even if you're
not a candidate for either of these roles, you're still welcome to send me an
updated resume.) PDF format preferred -- I do not modify candidate resumes
before submitting them to the client. (If you want some guidance in developing
an effective resume, take that up with me as a separate issue.)
