atw: Build vs Release

Good day to all you wonderful wordsmiths! 

Time to test your knowledge...

Build and Release are two terms that are used very loosely in our company.  I 
wonder if I could poll you for your thoughts on the difference between these 
two 
from a technical perspective or are they simply referring to the same thing?
