Senior Technical Writer  (Content Architect)

THE ROLE?.

The Content Architect has overall responsibility for the content and design of 
the full Singl.eView documentation suite; and for having an understanding and 
holistic view of the entire suite to ensure consistency and quality.
The Content Architect reports directly to the Manager, Product Knowledge and 
Communication, and works closely with the team leaders of the Product Knowledge 
and Communication team.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
?    An expert level of technical writing experience (6+ years, plus a relevant 
tertiary qualification)
?    Superb written and verbal communications skills
?    An in depth knowledge of the Singl.eView product suite, or proven ability 
to rapidly gain in-depth knowledge of a complex software application.
?    Creative problem solving skills
?    A strong ability to mentor and coach technical writers

Singl.eView Asia Pacific headquarters is based in Brisbane and is comprised of 
the Research & Development, Product Management and Professional Services 
product deployment teams, totalling approximately 200 people employed in 
various technical professions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Content Architect is responsible for:

?    Identifying gaps and improvements required in the suite content and 
structure;
?    Identifying and implementing best practice and quality standards;
?    Ensuring Product Knowledge and Communication?s requirements are included 
in program requirements for each major Singl.eView product release;
?    Reviewing and understanding all program requirements;
?    Creating the Knowledge Transfer Strategy outlining the Product Knowledge 
and Communication?s strategy and deliverables for each major release;
?    Providing estimates for all project work;
?    Developing and overseeing the development of Content Design Specifications;
?    Ensuring consistency and quality of content across the suite;
?    Maintaining all internal tools and scripts used to manage tickets within 
the Product Knowledge and Communication lifecycle;
?    Mentoring Product Knowledge and Communication team members;
?    Acting as content expert for the full suite;
?    Identifying continuous improvement opportunities within the Product 
Knowledge and Communication lifecycle;
?    Offering advice to other teams external to the Product Knowledge and 
Communication team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

TECHNICAL

?    Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or equivalent;
?    6+ years technical writing experience;
?    Expert ability to assimilate knowledge of complex systems;
?    Expert problem solving skills to identify and diagnose complex problems;
?    Expert level of technical writing skills;
?    Expert ability to design materials for different purposes and audiences;
?    In depth understanding of Singl.eView products, or proven ability to 
rapidly gain in-depth knowledge of a complex software application;
?    In depth knowledge of Singl.eView documentation and training suite:
?    In depth understanding of audience/customer knowledge and information 
needs and requirements;
?    In depth knowledge of documentation development process and lifecycle, and 
content design principles;
?    Detailed understanding of the requirements of ISO 9001:2000;
?    Working knowledge of the relevant technology areas: C/C++, Perl, Java, 
SQL, Relational Database (Oracle);
?    Working knowledge of Unix commands & concepts (environment variables, file 
permissions, login/out procedures, shell scripting);
?    Exposure to commercial software development;
?    Exposure to telecommunications/billing/customer care industry.


MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP

?    Strong ability to mentor and coach technical writers, training developers 
and editors;
?    Strong ability to effectively convey ideas and concepts to team members 
and customers;
?    Strong ability to negotiate and resolve conflict;
?    Expert communication skills (verbal and written);
?    A commitment to meeting quality as defined by Intec;
