atw: Ad hoc partnerships on offer

Dear austechies,

 

Many of you will know, from my postings on austechwriter, that Abelard
Consulting is quite active in the technical writer placement business. We
have, in fact, been placing technical writers with clients for just on 10
years: mostly in Melbourne, but not infrequently in Sydney and Adelaide too.

 

We are keen to develop this side of our business further, and would like to
try an approach that directly involves the technical writer community. The
approach we have in mind is to invite those with knowledge of a forthcoming
technical writing project to alert Abelard to the project. Should Abelard
then win the contract to place technical writers on the project, we would
share the placement fee with whoever brought the project to our attention.
The share of the fee (the commission) would depend on the level of
involvement: at one end would be a spotter's commission (although unlike
ordinary spotter's fees, we would pay the commission for the life of the
contract); at the other end, where you directly negotiate the contract on
our behalf, a much more substantial commission would be paid (again for the
life of the contract). A formal partnership agreement would set out the
obligations and entitlements of both parties: Abelard and the spotter (or
agent).

 

If you are interested and would like more details, give me a call or drop me
a line. By the way, you don't have to be aware of an imminent technical
writing project before forming a partnership with Abelard. But if you are
aware of one, I'd love to hear form you straight away. Just to reiterate:
