atw: ASTC(NSW) Central Sydney Meeting this Wednesday (June 28)

Topic: Sarbannes-Oxley, do you know how it will affect us?

The US Sarbannes-Oxley legislation is fairly simple legislation, but
with enormous implications for technical communicators.

There are a number of companies here in Australia owned by holding
companies listed on an American stock exchange. These companies will be
expected to comply with the Sarbannes - Oxley legislation. There is a
reasonable expectation that Australia will follow suit with matching
legislation in the near future.

In this interactive session, presented by Steve Hudson, you will learn
what the implications are for us.

About Sarbannes & Oxley
The successful introduction of legislation into the US Senate by
Senators Sarbanes and Oxley to avoid repeats of major corporate fiascos
like Enron has serious implications and offers substantial opportunities
for technical communicators working in Australia.

The legislation is designed to improve shareholder confidence in the
management of large companies and thus ensure that the stock market,
which drastically affects a country's international economic standing,
is vigorous. It requires listed companies to adhere to good business
practices with mandated separation of duties in the area of managing
their financial systems.
Where do technical communicators fit into the picture? Attend this
meeting and find out.
