No, that there's a hyphen.

Depends on your version and settings.

To get an em dash anytime in Word you can use 
the Insert>Symbol>Special command or the 
"Alt+Ctrl+Num -" combo. (That last bit is the
hyphen or 'minus' key on the numeric keypad.

But where we've gone completely astray is that the
original question was about an em space rather than 
an em dash.
