Hi, It *could* be state-specific, but it could also be under the influence=20 from the US. My spouse worked in California in IT for 4 years and he uses=20 this term; I've worked for local companies with US offices and have heard=20 it in those companies. I think I first heard it in 1999, when I started=20 out in tech writing. And I've worked in Telecomm software and then here=20 with ERP/EAM software development; spouse works in Applications=20 development, so it doesn't seem to be too industry-specific, based on my=20 unofficial polling of myself + 1. Oh, and I am in Qld. :) KT P.S. Sorry if this post gets "=3D20" at the end of rows; I use Lotus and=20 post all messages as plain text .. I'm assuming Kirsty is from QLD and Stuart's in NSW. How new is it? Does it refer to a particular type of software development? industry specific? thanks, Fiona Hi, I agree that it is a fairly common term in software development. I've used it and heard it used in the context Stuart describes. I don't actually get connotations of "angriness" from the word; to me it just means they've used it for real & have seriously tested it.
