That's the field to use. I left out pressing Reset after you select the
outline numbered box in order to clear whatever perversion is currently
behind it.

If you are setting lists, you will want a clean template to start with.
Rename normal.dot and start a new template based on the new blank document.
You probably have many spurious list templates in your template. Discover
how many by doing this:

VBE (Alt+F11) > Immediate Window (Ctrl+G) > ?
ActiveDocument.ListTemplates.Count

ideally this is a very small figure.

You can get some cleaning by saving as HTML and reloading, resaving as doc.
