I had the same problem until I told my US colleagues that I followed the =
MS Style Guide.
Perhaps they were worried that the style looked too foreign and could =
adversely affect user acceptance in downtown Omaha.
They seemed happy enough that I was following some US standard.=20

Perhaps your case may be stronger if you showed them examples from MS =
documentation and point out that if your product integrates with MS =
products that this includes documentation styles - a seamless garment of =
desktop integration (albeit with user documentation that would be an =
undergarment).

Aren't MS publishing a new style guide soon?

Subject: [austechwriter] Enter vs. Type

I am getting pressure from US colleagues to use 'Enter' instead of =
'Type'
when referring to typing something into a field. They claim this is =
"more
American". This is against the recommendation of the MS style guide, and =
my
own inclination and experience. Is this in fact the more common usage in =
the
US?

Wendy
