Hi all
I'm working on a series of relatively short projects (ie days/weeks
rather than months) which overlap each other timewise. I have to send
quite a few emails, and in order to keep my head straight, every email I
send has the subject prefaced with that project's reference number.
This morning I was idly wondering if I could set up a macro in Outlook
(2002 on XP) that would automatically move each sent and received macro
the Outlook folder whose name contains the reference number in the
subject line - *without* having to set individual rules for each - some
kind of generic "if the subject line contains this sequence of letters,
then look at the following numbers, and match them up with the folder
containing the same sequence and move them there - and if the folder
doesn't exist don't crash the pc" type thing.
Idle as I was (hence the wondering), I looked in the Help to see what it
could tell me. This is what it could tell me:
Create a macro
1. On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Visual
Basic Editor.
2. On the Help menu, click Microsoft Visual Basic Help.
That's it.
It's so absurd that I am unable to respond with my normal
muffled-explosive-sigh response! But I felt that I should share it with
you all...
And if anyone has any idea if the macro I have in mind is possible,
could they let me know? It's not a big issue - just something that I
will be looking at doing if I have a spare moment or two, or if I get
particularly bored.
Elizabeth
