I think this is a good point. The 'hot' skills in such a flat market
probably won't be where the jobs are when things pick up.
If you think of your skills as a sort of pyramid, now is the time
to be broadening your base, not to build up high in one place.

I also agree with following your interests. Learning what intrigues
you is like a snowball rolling downhill -- you just pick up stuff
effortlessly. Learning about stuff that bores you -- let's see, that
would be like pushing something else uphill...
