[austechwriter] Re: Another one down

Ilana asked,

"Bill,
Do you have any short courses that you can recommend which teach XML and
structured documentation?
Ilana Cohney"

To be truthful, given that we started down the structured authoring path be=
fore XML was standardised, my organisation is still using SGML for structur=
ed documentation. However, over the years we have used both Absolute Data G=
roup (http://www.absolutedata.com.au/training.html) and Allette Systems (h=
ttp://www.allette.com.au/courses/) to train our people. These course are ne=
ver low priced and are generally tool oriented, but they have provided us w=
ith good value.

You should also check out the various tertiary institutions. These sometime=
s offer short courses in the term breaks. These would cost less and may be =
more generic in their approaches.

Finally, there is a great deal to be learned about emerging uses of the tec=
hnology for no investment other than your time from exploring Robin Cover's=
XML pages (http://www.oasis-open.org/cover/sgml-xml.html) and the World Wi=
de Web Consortium (http://www.w3.org/).

I hope this helps.
