I was mainly referring to the right-hand column on the front page re the
large sales increase. The section that starts The HiTech Collection Winter
2003.
There was no marketing campaign, I am still ramping up the materials
required, the inital website workover was phase 1. At this stage there are
still no plans for an aggressive e-marketing campaign.
However, some of the usability changes have included (I still have yet to
retest the new site mind):
removal of cluttered footer
Simplifying screen to two columns
Increasing size and visual presence of the menu strip at the top
another level of nesting to content rather than information overload
Improving contrast
chopping graphics for speed
I do plan on more, including a completely moronic "how to use this site" for
the exhaust fitters of the world and better alternative navigation and
breadcrumbing. Its just one step at a time right, and the humour approach
seems to have been the highest factor. I was whinging for weeks to have it
put in, but that gave us more time between updates to demonstrate which
update worked best. So now we need more of it.
If you're in Sydney, we'll be out at the AutoSalon this weekend and I'll
have a brochure I did in 20 hours to give you as a momento of your visit

Steve,
This topic interests me.
The Web site looks good, but I don't understand your reference to the =
entire right hand side. All the content appears centred with the right =
hand side being part of the background. I'm also not clear as to what =
changes should be applied to your own Web site. Is it about merely =
centreing the content?
Come to think of it, most single page "sales letter" Web sites are =
centred.
Are the dramatic increase in sales attributable to the just these =
changes or did the Web site owner do a Marketing campaign as well?
Cheers,
