INVASIVE SPECIES CRISIS

A REPORT ON
INVASIVE SPECIES THREAT TO AMERICA'S DECLINING BIRDS

One-Third of Audubon Watchlist Species Affected

National Audubon Society's analysis of the threat invasive species pose to
America's birds and wildlife will be released at a press conference. Invasive
species have infested more than 100 million acres of the American landscape,
cause more than $130 billion of damage to the American economy each year, and
constitute a primary threat to America's declining birds and other wildlife.

The report, Cooling the Hot Spots, demonstrates that invasive species are
rapidly destroying valuable habitat needed by some of America's
fastest-declining birds, and identifies ten invasive species Hot Spots in need
of protection, to give a science-based road map toward meaningful conservation
progress.
