[atlantaprog] Re: more logos

When I suggested A.R.I.A. I wasn't even thinking of Asia, although I agree
that was a pretty lame album. Consider this though: the association with
Asia may make some on here cringe, but those outside this art-rock advocacy
group, i.e. 99.9% of the Atlanta population, don't know squat about Asia
other than "Heat of the Moment" and certainly don't know about their Aria
album.

I think it's more important to promote a good image among the unwashed
masses than amongst ourselves (no need to preach to the choir), and since
the Asia connection is going to fly right over their heads, I don't think it
matters much. What does matter, IMO, is being succinct, clear and
unpretentious. I don't favor the word "progressive" because it means too
many things to different folks-- I've heard R.E.M. and techno called
progressive-- and I don't much like overly cute, vague, forced acronyms.
Thus, "art rock in atlanta". I would agree though, that it would be a good
idea to avoid having the logo resemble Asia's too much. Let's just pick
something and move on to more important stuff: promotion, organization,
networking...
