Hello again,
Thanks Allen for your observation. After reading what you had written I
agree and you are right about the station's site menu, but after the
holidays I'll be working hard on making some changes.
The music was an after thought and could be replaced with bits of each
band, but as you said it would take forever for someone using dialup to
hear or even see it with that size of a file. So with that I've made a
few modifications. I've removed the music, the notes. I've also added a
little color and sped it up to 10 seconds. Also once completed it won't
repeat as the other one did. I haven't changed the font yet, but that
can be easily changed. The new one is here:
http://theprogpalace.com/aria/aria1.html
and for those who haven't seen the original it is still there too.

It's like Wine, it takes time, but with us all working together I'm sure
we'll find something everyone likes.
Once again comments welcome.
Greg

Hi again,
A few comments re. the flash logo... all of this IMHO of course! And
before I start, I want to say that I think what you've done, Greg, is
WAY COOL! These comments are from my many years of experience as a
graphic designer:
* There should be five lines (like a music staff), and I don't really
care for the notes - too cartoon-y
* The text should be a bit more distressed looking, like it was
written with a scratchy pen. The original text was like that. The
idea behind my original logo is that someone has scrawled "Aria" in
long hand over an icon of a more conservative approach to music (ie
the music notation staff) - sort of alternative approach to writing
musical notation - the letters "aria" ARE the notes! Our own way of
creating and expressing music. The cartoon-y notes and the clean
looking font interfere with that concept.
* There should be no music AT ALL! It makes the flash file load way
too slow and it tries to pigeonhole one specific sound to "Art Rock
in Atlanta"
* The animation need to be WAY faster. People don't like waiting for
a flash thing to cycle before they can get to the content. (BTW,
that's a bit of constructive criticism I would offer on the prog
palace site as well. It gets a little tedious having to wait for the
animation to finish before I can use the navigation links)
* No provision was made for color. In the final form, there should be
a color scheme that carries into the website.
If everyone agrees - or at least if no one objects too strenuously...
100% agreement is highly unlikely - I will collaborate one-on-one
with Greg to come up with the final piece, which will then become the
basis of the website.
