What resolution looks good also depends on your monitor size.  1280x1024 
looks great and is easy to read on a 21" monitor.  That same resolution, 
however, is impossible to view without a good magnifying glass on a 15" 
monitor.

Some comments on your website:

- the background image makes the text very straining to read
- maybe put all the mp3 player download links on a separate page, they seem 
to clutter up what really matters on the music page: links to your music
- maybe on the music page include a brief description of the track, its 
length and maybe offer hi-fi / lo-fi versions to suit people with slower 
connections better
