As someone who does a LOT of web work for a LOT of clients - 800x600 is 
the way to go. Otherwise folks who use older computers will have to 
scroll to see your whole page. In a couple of years, most folks will 
have migrated to the current defacto standard of 1024x768 - but for 
now, there are still a lot of legacy machines out there!
