and Jeff replied...But you could say that about
any number of male guitarists, too.
There will always be musicians (male and female)
of high talent that will go unrecognized. But my
overall point I think still stands - and that is
that, if anything, the novelty of being female
has certainly helped a lot of women players. I
would argue that the number of male players that
play at the level of Nancy Wilson are probably
incredibly huge. I'm not trying to put her down,
but I honestly don't hear anything from her that
I consider to be particularly wonderful. She's a
nice player - like many MANY folks who are
unknown.

Jeff replied - Pardon my French, but *are you
kidding*?
"Are you kidding?" is French?? ;)
Sorry...we have to keep this light lol
Jeff added...we've got manufacturers that
never existed in the
'50s putting out new amps with That Vintage Look.
Ummm...I'm not talking about trendy re-issues
*blech!* Well, okay..some of them are decent.
But many are just cosmetic wannabes. I was
overjoyed when I learned that Fender had
re-issued the Blackface Deluxe Reverb - only to
be very disappointed. I hear the Marshall Plexi
re-issues though are supposed to be good. I
haven't heard one though. Not a huge Marshall
fan anyway.

and Jeff replied - but why do they choose to act
that way?
This illustrates my point exactly. We should not
just assume that men and women act differently
for either of the commonly held reasons (i.e.,
nature vs. nurture). I merely pointed out
another "possibility" (my exact word). I would
imagine that both male and female behavior is the
result of a complex mixture of both biological
and cultural factors.

and Jeff replied - I don't see how voicing one's
desires for the world--one's ideas of how the
world could be a better place--is "arrogant".
In my view this is not what is being voiced.
When it is suggested that one's own view is
"enlightened" that pretty much suggestes that
other views are "un-enlightened". Just calling
it as I see it.
I hope you all have a great holiday!
