The Furthest Side
Music
9:00pm
$5

The Furthest Side is a collection of musical events from transcendental origins. In this case, humans behaving as animals, the channeling of musical aggression through noise-making playthings, humorous storytelling from beyond the grave, and paintings from the netherregions.

Music by Animental (Brooklyn),Toy Party Attack, Zombie puppets. Art work by Nikki Newton. Craft workers and DJ.

Animental is an outlet for expression in its purest form, drawing inspiration from animals. Animental explores the ideas of innate reactions and behavior of animals vs. the programmed or acceptable actions of the human animal. It hopes to empower the individual who is performing as well as transport the audience to another realm of reality. Inspiration, freedom, hope, creativity, individuality, power, and feminism are things Animental hopes to transpire. We use sound, costumes, movement, storytelling, props, lights and what ever else the participants and performers bring. no performance is like the other.

Toy Party Attack:
The name says it all. Toy Party attack takes no prisoners...wreaking sweet aural mayhem and leaving in their wake a trail of twisted wires, springs, and keypads droning and bleeping into the distant horizon.

The Mapping Project: You Are Here!
Celebrating the natural environment in DeKalb County Parks and Nature Preserves
From July, 2005, through June, 2006, Beacon Dance undertook a journey throughout DeKalb County in the metro Atlanta area. By creating site-specific performance pieces at twelve separate parks and nature preserves, the artists of Beacon have choreographed a visual travelogue inspired by what they saw, experienced and remember. Videographer Stig Rasmussen recorded the performances on videotape, and has edited the footage from each of the site-specific performances into a twelve channel dance-for-camera installation. Composer Allen Welty-Green will be mixing the sound live during the performance period.

In this evening event at Eyedrum, all twelve edited video pieces will be projected or screened simultaneously. In tandem with the video installation, many of the project’s cast members will perform an interactive dance with text throughout the evening. The installation is designed to be an interactive experience for audience members, encouraging a journey through the space. The video installation will run in twelve-minute cycles, with periods of six minutes between each cycle. The live performance aspect will be a continuous performance, with the performers engaging each other and the audience in a variety of ways over the two hour installation period.

In the Small Gallery:

Sun Hong

Sun Hong, ink drawings on paper.
Through June 17th.

For her second solo show, Sun Hong is displaying a series of ink drawings where she explores the relationship between line and shape. She limits her materials to black ink and white paper and keeps the format of the picture plane the same, with the intent to concentrate solely on the qualities of line. This is a departure from her earlier works which consists of both paintings and drawings in mixed media and bright color.
Sun is a graduate of the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of GA. Currently, she teaches art at LaBelle Elementary School in Smyrna, Georgia.

Through Saturday, June 17th. SEE IT NOW!
