January 11 Thursday

Info Demo 2.6 “The Skin I’m In”
Multi-media performance
9:00pm
$5

SKIN: Did you know it's your biggest organ? Does it really have seven layers? Is there more than one way to skin a cat? How about a baby Harp seal? Why do some people sneer at fur while wearing leather shoes? And what about all the things we do to our own hides – Tattoos, face lifts, Maybelline, sunburns and tanning beds, laser hair removal. Are you comfortable in your own skin? Bothered by the
wrinkles, zits and colors of others'? Do Band-aids match anyone's
skin tone?

This month we'll be offering up the skinny on skin, including a
close-up view of a lemon's surface, skin-themed songs and trivia, the
Atlanta Naked People, back-shaving and more!

Info Demo – Proving that "infotainment" needn't be a dirty word!

January 12 Friday

The Flight Orchestra and Elijah B Torn
R Garcia
Music
9:00pm
$5

The Flight Orchestra aka David Wilson is the co-founder of Club DATAAGE, a seminal club event based in Chinatown, Los Angeles. He has toured the US several times and has shared the stage with the likes of the Breeders , Ozma , Electric Eel Shock, the Orb, edIT , Daedelus, 8 Bit Weapon, Addicted2Fiction, Mochipet and Machinedrum.

Elijah B Torn's music has been featured on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" program and he is one of the original members of www.theycontrol.us. In New York City he has performed at CBGB’s, The Knitting Factory, Galapagos, North Six, Splice, The Tank, as a featured artist at Warper Parties, and the Billyberg Film Festival. He has also played at The Black Cat in Washington D.C., The Ottobar in Baltimore, and venues in San Francisco and the Pacific Northwest including the basements of bowling alleys and pizzerias.

While both are solo experimental electronic acts- they actually play and perform electronic music, live. There is no hovering over a laptop checking email. Torn "plays" a laptop with his feet while playing live bass and has handmade lighting effects. The Flight Orchestra's Wilson's animated performances involve singing and manipulating electronics and effects and lots of jumping and dancing.

October’s Podcast
We devoted lots of time to a revisiting of the Atlanta underground/ indie scene of the early/mid 1980s, with previously unreleased recordings by 86, Pillowtexans, Vietnam and Amalgamated Cliff Divers; there's a show at Eyedrum on Oct. 7th that has lots of people from these bands performing for the first time in many years. After the retro fix, we played a few songs by Tunnels, Acid Mothers Temple and Hubcap City, all recorded live at Eyedrum in the past month. We closed with Tuna Helpers (performing Oct. 11th) and a short piece by avant garde luminary Jack Smith. If you don’t know what all the podcast fuss is about, a podcast is simply an audio file that you can listen to on your computer or portable mp3 player. For those of you who are familiar with podcasting, please click on podcast. (http://www.eyedrum.org/radioshow.xml ) You can also just download the whole show (right click on "download") although be forewarned that the file is over 50 MB in size. If you’re having trouble, respond to this email… we can help!

September’s Podcast
Click here for the feed or download the show here!
It features lots of Table of the Elements stuff! Tony Conrad, Rhys Chatham, Ruins, all in anticipation / remembrance of the festival happening this weekend at Eyedrum. Also featured were Hubcap City, A.C.M.E., Arthur Doyle, Go! and Tunnels, all recorded at previous Eyedrum engagements and returning to town in September. Check it out!
