December 15 Friday

Quiet Hooves
Telenovela
Music & Art
9:00pm
$5

An evening of music and visual art from our happy neighbors in Athens (click names for links):

Quiet Hooves
Twangy, Psycadelic children's music, not intended for children. Their songs are quiet and often in the oven.
Soft clippity-cloppity.

Telenovela
Fuzzy indie pop. Reminiscent of 90's college rock.
Featuring a wind section, so they are a little classier. Not to be confused with Telanovela. That's another band all together.

Tyrus Lytton-
Using acrylic, colored pencils, cut paper, pen and
ink, and plastic beads Tyrus' work explores chaos
theory and its effects on sexual fantasy, procreation,
and religious memes. The pieces themselves are both humorous and secretive.

Susan Fang-
Using the themes of pattern, piles, and Presidents, Susan's work indulges in the Postmodern kitsch. The works are arranged by theme and are grouped in a way that the smaller individual pieces create the thematic whole.

Nash Hogan-
Nash's work is a collection of buildings, cartoons and other imagery, pieced together in a collage/mixed media format. They are visual accumulations of life between Athens and Atlanta.

December 16 Saturday

Christian Strezo and the Czech Republic
Music
9:00pm
$7

Kristen Strezo and the Czech Republic play
rock that incorporates ambient soundscapes, world-fusion
beats, strong vocals and poetic lyrics. The band has used
a variety of instruments to accomplish their sound,
including kalimba, djembe, bongos, found sounds,
pan flute, hammered dulcimer, banjo, plus the usual
suspects: guitar, bass and drumset.

Miscellany

October’s Podcast
We devoted lots of time to a revisiting of the Atlanta underground/ indie scene of the early/mid 1980s, with previously unreleased recordings by 86, Pillowtexans, Vietnam and Amalgamated Cliff Divers; there's a show at Eyedrum on Oct. 7th that has lots of people from these bands performing for the first time in many years. After the retro fix, we played a few songs by Tunnels, Acid Mothers Temple and Hubcap City, all recorded live at Eyedrum in the past month. We closed with Tuna Helpers (performing Oct. 11th) and a short piece by avant garde luminary Jack Smith. If you don’t know what all the podcast fuss is about, a podcast is simply an audio file that you can listen to on your computer or portable mp3 player. For those of you who are familiar with podcasting, please click on podcast. (http://www.eyedrum.org/radioshow.xml ) You can also just download the whole show (right click on "download") although be forewarned that the file is over 50 MB in size. If you’re having trouble, respond to this email… we can help!

September’s Podcast
Click here for the feed or download the show here!
It features lots of Table of the Elements stuff! Tony Conrad, Rhys Chatham, Ruins, all in anticipation / remembrance of the festival happening this weekend at Eyedrum. Also featured were Hubcap City, A.C.M.E., Arthur Doyle, Go! and Tunnels, all recorded at previous Eyedrum engagements and returning to town in September. Check it out!
