The AIDS Chronicles – Here to Represent

A film by Bailey Barash

The documentary, The AIDS Chronicles - Here to Represent focuses on the social and cultural impact of HIV/AIDS on the African American community of Metro Atlanta. This glimpse of some of the material gathered over the last three years gives insight into the reasons why HIV/AIDS is still a major threat to the black population of Atlanta and nationwide. When it debuts in it's finished form later this summer, 'The AIDS Chronicles' will be an hour-long documentary that opens a window on the lives of Atlanta's vast African American population and reveals how the thoughts and actions of African Americans are affected by the presence of the disease in their community. Bailey Barash, award-winning journalist and film maker will preview segments of 'The AIDS Chronicles - Here to Represent' and will administer a brief audience survey after each showing. Please keep in mind these previews will be about 35-40 minutes long and will contain just some of the material that will be in the 60 minute version. The final one-hour documentary will be finished around August 1, 2007. It will be appropriate for audiences 13 and older. This work is funded through grants from the City of Atlanta, DeKalb County, Alternate ROOTS, and Johnson and Johnson/ The Society for the Arts in Healthcare.
