I guess I should explain. Most people in the so-called "alternative"
scene seem secretly to wish it was still some era before THEM DAMN
HIPPIES came along, but they don't want to admit it either to
themselves or anyone else. Most of them seem to have a certain
ascetic, even prudish, streak, too; they seem to think they're being
bold and independent-minded by standing up to That Decadent
Rock'n'Roll Flamboyance And Debauchery and what have you. It seems
like a really stuck-up attitude to me.
