Even for prog, I think drum machines have a
place, at least for demo music.  I actually used
a very inexpensive drum machine (Zoom RT-123) to
record pieces of several RUSH songs.  I have no
doubt that many eyes are rolling back into their
heads.  But I simply don't have the capability,
performance or equipment wise, to do it with
acoustic drums.  Of course, if I ever to get to
the point of actually recording a real CD I won't
be satisfied using a drum machine.  Until then, I
will keep using it as a tool.
