[atlantaprog] Re: another aspect

Andy,

The drum sounds from the 80's that truly suck were all
the electronic drums that insinuated themselves into
many a studio during that decade...since everybody
(including Phil Collins, Bill Bruford and Neil Peart)
seemed to embrace them for at least a period of time
(wose yet, don't have a live drummer playing
electronic srums at all, but have a MACHINE do
it...great for dance music, but NOT prog). The reason
Copeland sounded so great was that with The Police he
used real drums!

And one of the greatest drum recordings EVER has to be
from 'Moving Pictures' by Rush. Notice I didn't say
THE greatest, in fear of retribution...but definately
right up there...and with real drums, mind you! Yet
another big reason why that album was so successful
for the band. :-)
