Well, I had considered helping out with this by
linking a site from Geocities (where my own homepage
resides). However, I wasn't sure if everybody would
be up for that, unless they had a web presence that
could host such a site. At least it is one of the
"free" sites, and could do for the short-term.
This would allow me to experiment a bit with layout
and content. I am NOT, repeat, NOT a web designer by
trade, and I will by no means have a slick, commerical
site. (Heck, just take a look at my own homepage and
you get the idea of how much of an amateur I am) But
it would at least be a start that could be improved
upon in the future as we (hopefully) grow.
I thought about naming the site the Atlanta ProgNet,
hosted (brought to you) by A.R.I.A., Art Rockers In
Atlanta.
So, I am willing to put this together, at least
intially. ;-)

I talked at length with Matthew last Thursday at a
Christmas party. He is aware of the date change and
is very appreciative! He told me that he will
unfortunately couldn't make a Tuesday meeting in
January either. He and several other members of his
band are in the middle of performing "A Funny Thing
Happened On the Way to the Forum" by Stephen Sondheim
at the New American Shakespeare Tavern from January
8th through February 9th.
He thinks that if you time the next meeting to be just
after the show wraps, then he can make it. That would
actually be a Monday the 10th, or maybe even on
Tuesday the 11th. Believe me, he is interested and
wishes to participate, but his plate (and calendar)
tend to be quite full normally. Imagine trying to get
together for rehearsals as Paracelsus in addition to
everything else! :-P
As for myself, I just might be able to attend the
January meeting. Tax season will have just started
and the scheduled work hours will steadily increase
until I am working at least 14 hour days! But, I
SHOULD be able to get to this one before that happens.
However, I will have to miss out on the February,
March and April meetings, as I will get out of work
way too late. :-( Count me in afterward, though!
;-)
I personally think that under normal circumstances, we
should have our meetings on SUNDAY nights instead of
Mondays. The reason being that other than rehearsals,
I think that most musicians would be available. And I
would take a guess that in most cases they would work
around that for the meeting as it is only one a month
anyway. And on a Sunday, you can even hold the
meeting at an earlier time if that is most convenient
for al involved. Plus, I could come to ALL of the
meetings, tax season or not! ;-) Anyone else have
any thoughts on this?
If you guys are OK with me doing an Atlanta Prog page,
just let me know. I would need information from all
the bands involved, as I would of course link your
websites to the page, as well as information about the
newly-christened A.R.I.A.! ;-)
Bill
