i seriously doubt alex will ever see the inside of a
cell again on these counts, considering the charges,
the potential for a fine, and past criminal proceedings
with other "wealthy rockstars".
for instance, vince neil, a known troublemaker and
drunk, knowingly got in a car with a friend of his when
they were both drunk off their gourds, and ended up
killing his friend in the car with him, along with injuring
two other folks. he got convicted of dui and vehicular
manslaughter and spent all of 30 days in prison (along
with a 2 mil fine). any ordinary drunk would've spent
a lot longer in jail than that given the circumstances. the
wealthy are coddled.
think of it this way, the government of naples fla.
benefits much greater from a check from alex's account
than from him sitting in a cell. they know this, they've
already dropped 6 of the original charges, look for a
plea bargain of time served and a fine, probably in
the 6 digit range, if that. don't forget a lawsuit is pending
against the police department for brutality, and alex
has the bloody nose and the witness reports of two
taser strikes to prove it, both of which could've severely
hampered his career as a performer and both of which
were completely unnecessary to subdue him if the cops
had the proper backup.
on one hand here you have the recipient of
canada's highest civilian honor, responsible for donating
over a million dollars to various charities quietly and
without fanfare, a public figure with no history of any
kinds of incidents such as this one in thirty years, and on
the other you have two "good cops" who both have been
cited for entering situations alone when they should've
waited for backup (aka "hotdogs") by their superiours.
i don't think anybody wants this to go to trial.
as for this being their last tour, i doubt that too since
both geddy and alex have said that they intend on going
into the studio once this is over with. might be a couple
of years for them to get on the road again, but it's not
the last, barring some kind of catastrophe.
