[atlantaprog] Re: Whither ARIA?

hey all, I love Seans idea of an outdoor fest type thing....Allen, what about Candler park or somewhere like that? In the fall maybe? I know I for one as a listener would love that...on a weekend so my family can attend with me.  Sounds great! :-)

So who wants to organize it? Who wants to rent the stage and sound system? Who wants to arrange the local permits and security?

I also agree about branching out...if we don't we are all going to just see the same bands over and over...and I for one love ya'll but well...it would be nice to see more. :-)

Well until the monthly showcase thing gets squared away, we'll be lucky to see the same old bands. Re. branching out - I've certainly done my part to bring folks into the fold. I didn't see anyone coming forward to distribute flyers at the Schizoid show!

Why don't we try to get Farpoint to come over sometime also.  They wanted involved before.

Any band that wants to be part of our showcase thing, if it gets going again, is welcome to contact Matthew.

Do we have anything about ARIA up in music stores and what not?  How much is an ad in Creative Loafing?

Music stores might be a good idea. A conventional ad in CL is pricey and useless, but perhaps a recurring ad in the classifieds (the musicians exchange section) might reach a few interested folks.Who all would be willing to chip in? How much?

I also think that we should try to get other stations involved with RogueFest.  I'm not sure how many people here are on staff at stations besides Greg and I, but its an idea.  I can try to get PSR involved also and see about getting ProgRock involved since MoF are playing and are on their label.  Steve???

Roguefest will be promoted via all the usual outlets. There will be a full page ad in the next Progression (hope John gets it out on time!) It would be nice if some of the stations would come on board.

I'll be stopping by Manuel's in the next day or two to book the next meeting date (I'm going to try for a Monday so Wade can come, since Roguefest is coming up.)

Nothing can happen unless someone takes initiative and does it. I've done my part, and will continue doing what I can, Matthew has certainly done his part. For ARIA to go to the next level, others need to step forward.
