Good points there Sean!!
Wondering if we should also set up an ARIA table at these shows and get a
larger mailing list going for people who have stumbled on the shows, maybe sell
CD's by ARIA artists as well.

I thought I would weigh in on this one as well. I
would like ARIA to continue as well, and I agree with
Harold that the right intentions are still in tact.
We need to get back to hustling a bit more I think.
We cannot survive with just us (on the list) going to
each others gigs. I think we should continue to do
so, of course, but we need to start branching out and
finding ways to bring in a bigger audience for these
shows. I suppose it is probably the concern of the
bands that are playing to round up most of the crowd,
but if each of us on the list came and brought at
least one person with us each time, numbers would
improve as well.
I think at this point we also need some new blood. We
have all seen each others bands a number of times. I
think some of the best gigs (attendance-wise) were
ones where some band new to the list played and folks
came out of curiosity.
Also, we need to find a way to have a few ARIA gigs in
higher profile places, maybe some outdoor fests or
something of that nature where a built in audience is
already there. As for the monthly showcases....
I think Brandyhouse on a Thurs night might just work.
I will try and get ahold of Jim there this week and
check and see. NoiseDotCom has played there some, and
they (the B-House) have seen that arty bands can fill
up their back room on a week night. They said they
are up to more gigs of that nature, I think that may
be the place to try next.
As for the meetings. They never hurt, I work at night
a lot so I cannot usually attend, but with lists like
this I think it is kind of like having the meeting
going all through the month, because in the end they
are for discussion and the meetings are too. Keep up
the meetings too, but if push comes to shove,
attendance at ARIA gigs should take priority. Maybe
have the meeting THE SAME NIGHT as the monthly gig,
meet and then go see the shows. That would be cool
and maybe up attendance at both.
Good luck on all fronts!
