I have to agree...
A great example of corporate radio is 99X..."New
Rock...FIRST"
Now, when I go to Tallahassee, FL to visit my mom (and
where I spent a number of my formative years) they
have a "new" station (wasn't there when I lived
there)...it just happens to be owned by the same
broadcasting company as 99X...and guess what...they
sound EXACTLY alike, right down to using the "X" in
it's name...only the numbers on the dial and the call
letters are different. Otherwise, their programming
sounds the same...it is like listening to 99X out of
state!
Then again, if your music gets to the desk of Leslie
Fram (99X Program Director/Goddess), and she actually
LIKES it, she may just give said artist the break they
need...a lot of bvands (not just from Atlanta) got
their break on 99X that landed them major airplay
nationwide (out-of-towners include No Doubt, Live and
The Cranberries).
For the record, Leslie is a fan of The Lost Boys, the
splinter project of Atlanta's own Karma Lingo. But I
doubt she has ever heard any of KL's music, either.
Too bad...
Regards,
Bill
