Sheesh! I feared my post about WABE was too off-topic. I'm at least glad that I fostered some fervent discussion, pro and con. Seems like I got a few lurkers to post as well. I love "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered" and I listen to them whenever I am in the car at those times. But as for in-depth discussion of news events, I don't want to listen to that on the radio in the first place. That's why I read the New York Times every day, and usually Time and Newsweek, etc. I just can't stand the idea that some people think that our already very limited broadcasting of classical music on Atlanta radio should be cut down to something even smaller, in favor of information you can get just about as well through newspapers, magazines and the Internet. Try getting the sound of classical music through newspapers and magazines. There is no analogy here. Anyway, I wrote a letter to Creative Loafing on the subject and they have contacted me and said they wish to publish it. I also have created a Web site which is a parody of the Web site run by the so-called APRI (Atlanta Public Radio Initiative), the group of "media activists" who are trying to influence WABE to run more talk. You heard it here first. More news later. Wheat Williams 5345 Pinnacle Peak Lane Norcross, GA 30071-4914 770-448-9734 wheat@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
