btw...I hate school uniforms...I think a kid should be able to show their
individuality...just as we could when we were younger...do you think we would
be where we are right this second if we hadn't been able to? I found prog at
16, that was back in the early 80's!!!! If I hadn't been able to be who I
wanted and was conformed to be like everyone else...I doubt I wouldv'e tried to
listen to Genesis or VdGG...I wouldv'e just stuck with MaDonna and all that
crap..;)
PEACE
Beth

I'm with you on that thought Gene! :-)
Chris...its going on all over...every school, every county, every state...do
you know I work with World Heritage Exchange Program, bringing students to the
US from all over the world, what shocks me I guess is that German and Japanese
kids want to come study in America when they have the best educations in the
world!!!! I represent these kids for the whole school year that they are here
(the Augusta area) and I see the way they can't even believe half the stuff
that goes on here...like teachers freaking out over any type of clothing the
students are wearing or piercings and that type of thing! When I was in High
School in Exeter, NH we could wear almost anything we wanted and I don't recall
other kids staring or us disrupting class or teachers bitching us out about it!
We seemed to do fine and although I made my choice to marry and have kids I
have MANY friends that went on to college and have wonderful careers!
I got kicked out of class for saying 'excuse me' after sneezing outloud in
class one time...the teacher thought I was being sarcastic! Well...after all
was said and done that teacher was made to apologize to ME and he was in
trouble..not me! Now they just seem (here anyway) to let the teachers decide
whatever they want...my daughter couldn't go on a 5th grade field trip in
Columbia County, GA because she didn't hand 1 piece of homework in!!! She did
the wrong chapt. questions...so instead of making her do them before the field
trip..they never said a word until the day before the trip...I called the
superintendent and he said that whatever the teachers and principal decided was
up to them! A friend of mine (same school) went to get her daughter to tell
her that she wouldn't be home cuz she had to go to her father out of state, he
was very ill...and she wanted to explain it to her daughter before she left
town..instead of a note or after the fact phone call...the principal
would not let her take her own daughter out of class! I just think that
these people take things way too far and are not willing to give way to
anything...they are so obsessed with these test scores and what not that they
are like the Stepford teacher and trying to make our children into the Stepford
kids:( I hate that.
ok...I did it again...ramble on all;)
PEACE
Beth

I believe it was to the original post. But to be
honest, I'm not even sure about that :) There
are so many posts.
I can't help but be slightly amused that it's the
only post on here of mine that has been
noticed...lol. Oh well, that's fair enough. I'm
not that active in this group..although I wish I
had to the time to be.
I do think, however, that it's great that
discussions such as these take place.
Regards
Gene
