Can somebody tell me a bit about The Variety Playhouse?
What I'm looking for people's opinions who've been there......is it a nice
place in a decent area ?
The short answer is "yes". What's really pertinent here is that it's really
in a "bohemian" area--not particularly rich, but sophisticated and (generally)
peaceful without being "stable", the sort of neighborhood that would regard
gentrification as a threat.
It certainly presented no problem to the largely middle-aged, middle-class
audience that showed up to fill the hall when The Musical Box, Rick Wakeman,
King Crimson, and Jon Anderson came through town. Hope this helps.
