[atlantaprog] Trans-Siberian Orchestra in DC tonight

What an awesome show!!

We got there to find that we were in the FRONT ROW. Don't ask me how that
happened, but it was TOO cool.

At one point there were 21 people on stage. Fog, sparks, fiery pyrotechnics
(we could feel the heat from them), and everyone was in tuxedos (all the guys
anyway). Jeez, they even had snow -- and it was even wet! It landed on us,
and it was just awesome. The lights were incredible, bouncing off of the
flakes.

Most of the songs were from Christmas Eve and Other Stories -- I believe they
did the entire disk. They did a few cuts from The Christmas Attic and also
from Beethoven's Last Night. My favorite moment, however, was when they said
they sometimes like to pay tribute to the bands that influenced them by doing
covers of their tunes ... and then they ripped into ELP's 'NutRocker'!! This
was TOO cool, as I've been an ELP devotee from way back and have met them a
gazillion times. I had my own personal moment during that one :-).

Amazing show, amazing musicianship, and 7 local string players who were also
very talented. Their new guitarists' name is Chris Caffery, and he served as
the front man when introducing the band. The only thing that I found
unnecessary, distracting and overwrought were the 3 blonde big-busted backup
singers (the BBB's, if you will), complete with matching choreography. The
were too affected for my taste, both their stage movements and their singing.
But hey, that's just me.

The show started at around 7:40pm, and ended after 10 with no intermission.
They came out afterwards to a table setup where they signed autographs. I
guess they do this at every show from what the guitarist said on stage. We
weren't able to stay for autographs tonight, but I'm going to see them next
Saturday in Las Vegas with my brother, so we will hopefully meet them then.

I will be in Atlanta at the end of December and I understand that TSO will be
there on the 28th. If anyone has 2 extra tickets available, please let me
know!!! I want to see this show as much as I can, and there's someone else
that I'd love to have see it while I'm there.
