Subject: [atlantaprog] The Prog Palace update

  Hello to everyone,

To those who don't know me my name is Greg Stafford and I operate The
Prog Palace Internet Radio station (link is below).
The latest news on the station:
After listening to the station remotely I found the quality that I was
trying to get wasn't where it should be to play the GREAT music all of
you have made. In trying to make the station sound its best I have made
some changes. The first change was to update the stream to that of 56K
which means those with dialup modems will no longer be able to listen
and if they do it maybe spotty. I have also taken all the music and made
new MP3s at a much higher rate (128K). The old files were only 32K so
this will make the source files much better when streaming at the lower
stream rate. Once this is completed the station will be able to
broadcast 56K MP3Pro. Those who do not have MP3Pro decoder or use the
Live365 player will receive the regular MP3 file.

For those using Winamp to listen I recommend not using version 3 (no
MP3Pro encoder and personally I think the sound isn't as good as the
version 2.91), I suggest using version 2.91 and getting the MP3Pro
plug-in, a link can be found on my site for the plug-in. This will give
you the overall best sound. So far Live365 player is not streaming
  MP3Pro.

Another stream is in the works (as soon as I can find a job) to provide
the dialup users access as well, but due to employment or the lack of at
the moment I cannot make this addition. The ultimate goal will be to
move off of live365 with 2 streams, but that's down the road a bit yet.

For those that may tune in tonight if you find a spotty stream please
let me know. I am sending all the new files from one computer to another
over the network and it may get bogged down until completed.

There will be a lot of new music being added in the next few weeks so
  stay tuned for updates.

As always suggestions are always welcome.
  Thanks,
  Greg Stafford
