That's a huge change from when I was a kid thinking about a music career. Used
to be, major labels' artists made all their money from record sales and
royalties. Touring was a promotional expense rather than a moneymaker. Maybe
that's why Thomas Dolby switched from releasing records to composing scores for
video games.
