And why does this band need new personal gear? Seems like they'd have
that before they got in a position to be signed.
I can imagine young. impressionable musicians jumping at the chance to
ditch their "adequate" gear for new shiny toys!
Regardless of nitpicks though, the major label idea is probably not a
good idea for a band, unless they are a very mainstream to begin with
or on a successful indie looking to get wider promotion and/or
distribution.
For the most part, the only way a band can "succeed" in the world of
the majors if they have already developed a relatively successful
career on the indy circuit. Then they're in a case where the major want
THEM more than they want the majors! REM is an example.
