[atlantaprog] Re: The Mars Volta at the Tabernacle

That's odd - I actually LIKE the new MV CD. I never heard their first one - the sound samples I downloaded didn't sound like my cup o' tea. But the new one caught my attention. I've only listen to it a couple of time, so my opinion may change, but first impressions are favorable. One thing I especially like is the diversity from track to track. One minute they're doing nails-on-chalkboard screeches and the next moment its acid-jazz salsa, then they move into early Floyd-style ambience, then on to Tool-style math-rock. I probably do need to check out the first one now.

I'll most likely try and make the Tabernacle show.

their ears checked.

And that's different from their first CD how, exactly? My big problems with De-Loused were that it was constantly shrill and irritating in sound, and that it wasn't particularly tightly structured. Also crappy lyrics, but any Prog fan worth his salt has learned to ignore crappy lyrics.
