First of all I guess I should consider this show a rite of passage of sorts
since it is the first concert I have ever attended where the overwhelming
majority of the audience was younger than me, (I'm 33.) lots and lots of high
school and college aged people. The concert was excellent. It gave me sense
of what it must have been like to have seen one of "the greats" when they were
young, hungry, on the rise and approaching the peak of their powers. I
think that I can best describe the overall vibe the show generated as "Led
Zeppelin meets Bitches Brew." Cedric seemed to be simultaneously channeling
Robert
Plant and Freddie Mercury. There was quite a bit of jamming and improv and
the band seemed more than equal to the challenge. The intensity of the music
literally put me into a sort of trance in several places. I was gone.
