The Red Light is, indeed, on Amsterdam Avenue just off of Monroe.  I played 
at the open mic there every Wednesday for about four years straight and still 
hit it sometimes.  

MJQ is still around, although not nearly as cool as it was when it was still 
in the basement of the Ponce De Leon Hotel.  I was there Monday night trying 
to see Ruins.  Unfortunately, the opening bands were so godawful and loud that 
I left intending to come back in time for the Ruins set, but I never actually 
made it back.
