[atlantaprog] Speechless CD Party Recap

Hi folks!

Thanks to all of you on the list here that made it to
the show Saturday at Club 29!!!! We had a great time.
This show wound up being everything we expected and so
much more. This was far and away the best gig the band
has played, just at a time when we needed nothing
less. I mean I think everyone hopes their cd release
party will rule, but when it REALLY does...it's more
satisfying than words can express.

Before I get into our set let me get you up to speed
on the other acts we were on the bill with. The
evening was opened by a local four piece called
Hanoman. They were really cool folks and we enjoyed
playing with them! Their set was rock with an
aggresive edge. They really got into it and played a
good set.

Closing out the night was a really tasty Southern Rock
group- The Tommy Crain Allstars. These guys are music
veterans (former members of the Charlie Daniel's Band)
and had some of the sweetest guitar tones this side of
the Mississippi. They played a great set of originals,
mixed with a few covers like a wonderful version of
"Jessica" from the Allman Bros, and one of my fave
blues numbers "Born Under a Bad Sign", which was done
by the likes of blues great Albert King and Cream as
well. They were really nice folks as well and we
enjoyed talking music with them after the set.

We want to thank each of you that made it to the
show!!!! This was easily the best attended gig we have
played yet and the energy in the room was AMAZING!
Very positive and a lot of fun. It was pretty much
standing room only during our set... This was the one
gig where we hoped for a great turnout and it exceeded
our expectations. We had a lot of cool stuff planned
and it was great to have so many of you to share it
with. I hear there were 200+ in attendance!

It was great to see so many old friends and make many
new ones as well.

We went on about 10:30 or so and did a whole 90 minute
set (or was it more?). We played the whole new cd,
interspersed with solo spots for each member. We threw
in a few covers as well which seemed to go over great.
Here is the setlist...

Jesus Christ Superstar Overture (Andrew Lloyd Weber
cover tune)

Stella

In The Clouds

Paul's Bass Solo

Spidercrawl

Thank You (dedicated to Derik's mom!)

The Big Majestic

Sean's Guitar Solo

Something Green

Robbie's Keys Solo

Spaghetti Junction

Derik's Drum Solo

Hangover

La Villa Strangiato (Rush cover tune)

Vader's Boogie

"Big Medley of Covers" which included-

Roundabout (Yes)> Tom Sawyer (Rush)> Carry On Wayward
Son (Kansas)> Frankenstein (Edgar Winter Grp) > Cheap
Sunglasses (ZZ Top) > Grand Illusion (Styx) >
Roundabout (main solo sections from it- the best part)

We decided it was time to work up a blend of familiar
music that is still kinda in our ballpark and the
medley seemed to go down great. Made an excellent set
closer. We have been compared to some of those bands
anyway... Why not!?

Thanks again to all of you for making this show
everything we hoped for and so much more!!!

-Sean T
