[atlantaprog] Soundscape #109 History of Prog- The End of 1970

Soundscape #109 History of Prog- The end of 1970

Show 109 finds us finishing up prog history for 1970. I am sure that I
missed a few bands along the way, but we managed to hit most of the major
ones. With 1971 on the horizon, I forsee that it will take most of summer to
get through it all, but the bands and albums that are coming in the next
episode are all fantastic. As we end 1970 you will find that there seems to
be a lot of focus on jazz fusion. It is a growing entity in the prog world
at this time and here we see it being worked with in the context of Zappa,
Van Der Graaf, King Crimson, and the entry of John McLaughlin. Due to source
material, our second set has some gapping, but I still felt it important to
expose those bands for the sake of catching some missed threads.
Next week, we will be listening to music by the band Longshanks, and if all
goes well we will have Longshanks, and Tinyfish in the chat room to talk
about their albums. The theme will be "A body made of music". Please join us
for another thrilling episode of Soundscape here on The Dividing Line.
