To all
Hart Deer is interested in the 9/21 slot, or whichever Tuesday is available
after that. Moreover, we support the attendance requirement. I think it is a
good example of organizational discipline.

P.S. Hart Deer has a Yahoo! Group:
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/HartDeer/
In it we discuss issues of the day and, of course, Hart Deer. You are all
cordially invited. I think you find it to be both content rich and
though-provoking.

Subject: [atlantaprog] Showcase happenings...
Hi all,
I talked with the 9-Lives guy and they're ready and willing to give us
a regular monthly slot for the showcase series. There's one catch - the
only night they'll give us is Tuesday! They've got their own house band
going on every W, Th and local hard rock/metal bands on weekend nights,
and he was frank with me in saying that he doesn't think the 9-Lives
regulars would be too keen on our stuff. But he said Tuesdays are wide
open, and we can do whatever we want. We can start early so everyone's
out by a reasonable time, or whatever.
I told him I'd go for it, but I need to check with everyone and make
sure they'd be enough support amongst the ARIA community (and enough
willing bands) to make it worthwhile. So.. what say ya'll?
The bands that are currently available are: Z-Axis, Sundog,
Noisedotcom, Unbounded Sky (assuming the age thing is manageable), Hart
Deer - am I forgetting anyone? Other local possibilities are As We
Dream (can someone tell me what's up with them?) and Roguefest faves
Belljar (I think some of them are on this list). Tuesday also opens up
the possibility of an occasional Cobweb Strange appearance. Also a new
group, Counts of Odds, should be ready to join the line up soon, and I
suspect folks from Lord Only & Karma Lingo will resurface soon. And
some of the old faves - Solution Science, Man on Fire will hopefully be
gigging again soon.
The plan is this - you may recall the attendance requirement from the
earlier incarnation of the series. I propose we continue this policy
with one exception - I'd like to invite new bands (new to ARIA that is)
to come play from time to time. THEN... if they want to play again,
then they'd need to abide by the "policy" like everyone else. For those
who are new to ARIA, the policy is that at least one member from each
band in the rotation attend each month's show, or else their band is
dropped from the rotation until they attend another show. Also, I want
to open it up to out of towners who might want to come play for a piece
of the door (BTW, how many of you would be willing to open up your
couches and guest rooms to visiting musicians to help minimize their
travel costs?)
So... thoughts? I'm going to propose Tues 9/21 as the 1st night. That
way we can promote it via flyers at the Nektar/Caravan show. I also
need to hear from everyone who is available to play that night! Since
Z-Axis & Sundog played the last ARIA night, I think it would be best if
someone else played this one.
