[atlantaprog] Show 31 1985

Why 1985 I have heard from a few disgruntled listeners...well. The main
reason is that one of my listeners requested this session. I have said
before that I wanted to here from listeners what themes that they would like
for me to tackle. This was an especially difficult one for the prog
nation. While I did include some prog oriented bands, many of the prog acts
of the day were in European countries and needless to say I was not able to
get a hold of any of them. It would seem American Prog had just decided to
poke its head into the collective and we ended up with what I call prog
pop. Generally, I was pretty enamored with the music of the 80s, especially
prog pop, but not everyone shares my feelings here. I think I offered some
very quality music here but your opinion may differ. If so...challenge me!
Offer me a theme that you would like to see hit upon and I will do as I can
to journey on that map.

In the meantime if you do brave the show, I think it is a rather handsome
mix of sounds. We start with a tribute to Lurker and his 2 Friday Night
shows. We run through 1985 offering some gems and some new wave pop that
was either requested or yours truly just loved, and then we hit the ground
running with new music from Trifectafunk, Fluttr Effect, and tracks from Dum
Nation Volume 3. Throw in some requested stuff and you have the mix. I
will appologize to those who were looking forward to my throwing Michael
Garfield into the mix. It just did not fit this time but I will give it
some play first thing next week.

Speaking of next week I am especially excited about this theme: The Healing
Powers of Music! The theme will basically seek to unearth the various
musics I have come across that provide psychological fodder for our creative
fires. Whether we are turning inward and regrouping during traumatic
periods, seeking inspiration and energy from one of our favorite musical
masters, or coping with frustration in the face of overwhelming odds music
has been used to cathart and heal throughout our lives. I want to hear your
stories and your songs of healing. I will take requests only if you have a
story that puts the request in that light. I challenge you all to help me
build what will be an amazing show. I will also discuss the various healing
modalities incorpoated by music from the psychological effect to the purely
energetic exchange of physical bodies.
