[atlantaprog] Re: STUFFING MY INBOX WITH CRAP

Grumpy rant:

One thing about some people on this forum that has always irked me is
not WHAT they say but HOW THEY MAKE POSTS. Why do you guys hit the
"Reply" button and post your message with the last five posts made by
previous writers still appended at the end of your message? Don't you
know how to SELECT TEXT and DELETE IT with your mouse and your delete
key?

People here are making a four-line new post which contains 150 lines of
previously quoted posts from five or six previous writers appended at
the end. THIS IS POOR EMAIL ETIQUETTE.

The whole ARIA mail list would take up 95% less space in my email inbox
and would require 95% less time to download if the people who post here
would USE ETIQUETTE and DELETE extraneous previous quoted posts from
their emails BEFORE THEY HIT THE SEND BUTTON.

Furthermore I get really irritated when I get the daily digest of all
the posts concatonated and I have to read a new post, scroll through
150 lines of copies of posts that I have already read just to find a
new post to read, scroll through 150 more lines looking for the next
new post, scroll through 150 more lines trying to distinguish between
what I've already read and what's new, ad infinitum, ad nauseum. And I
have to do this every day.

If you want to comment on something that someone has said before, after
you hit the Reply key, EDIT the text that gets copied over and ONLY
retain the parts of the MOST RECENT QUOTE that DIRECTLY pertain to the
points you are making. Do this line by line. Delete everything else,
including ALL PREVIOUS POSTS.

Remember, each of us has already read all the previous posts that you
are needlessly and lazily copying into your new posts. Generally we
don't need to read them all over again.

Sheesh.
