Ian had been suffering from cancer of the esophagus for months; he
had an unusually extensive diary on the DGM Web site, but his SO had
been doing most of the posts for two or three months, keeping
everyone abreast on his condition. Condolences are pouring in at DGM.
I don't have *Islands* (the only KC studio album on which he and Boz
played) or his work with the Crimson Jazz Trio (which is exactly what
it looks like), but I was fortunate enough to hear him play with the
21st Century Schizoid Band a few years ago. To say I was pleasantly
surprised is kind of an understatement--I had no idea he was that
good. I'll just have to be glad for what I have. Tip of the hat to
ya, Ian!
